Clinic Room Launch Event 19th July

Current Activities

A panel of Judges, representing various Community groups have chosen the Winning name. Congratulations to Chloe Griffith age 7 from Ysgol Derwenfa, Sunshine Cafe  / Caffi Heulwen, is a wonderful name for the Cafe. The Cafe was busy again last week and is proving to be popular and self-sustainable. However, we really do need to find more volunteers.  I will make this my priority when I return from annual leave. I will also launch the design a logo competition

Please see below a brief update on recent activities.

Café

The Café has been open now for 9weeks; it is going well and proving to be self-sufficient. However, we do need more volunteers, if you can spare an hour, once every couple of weeks or once a month, please do let me know. If you have a social media page, please share the attached poster. The café will be moving into its new home, on the 19th of July. More information below.

Litter Pick

The 2nd litter pick was a successful event, ten children from the School attended along with five parents. They managed to collect six big bags of rubbish. Thank you to Ray, for popping over to make a little fuss of them.

Old Clinic

We have finally set a date to launch the “Old Clinic  19th  July at 10:00. The rooms will be used for Sunshine Café and hopefully lots of new groups too. Iwan Williams, from the Older People’s Commissioner’s office, will be joining us, this will be an excellent opportunity for Iwan to hear about the enjoyable activities in the Community. An official invitation will be circulated; I am just in the process of putting it together.

Unfortunately, at the last decorating session, we only had three painters (including myself), so we still have a little bit to do, as follows.

First room

Paint front door frame

Paint window frames

2nd Room

Paint door (both sides)

Paint window frames

Paint one wall

A little more paint here & there.

The rooms also need a good clean.

The regular volunteer painters have very kindly agreed to two more dates.

Thursday 12th July  13:00 – 16:00

Friday 13th July  10::00 – 15:00

Any help you can offer will be much appreciated, even if only for an hour.

Many thanks

Shereen

Community Celebration Day

I am joining forces with my Colleague Mair, from the Learn Together Cymru Team. On the 7th July, we are holding a Community Celebration Day; this will be an opportunity for all the groups within the Community to come together to promote themselves, recruit new members and maybe a find a Volunteer or two.  I will contact you in a couple of weeks with more information.
